An official Holiday in Springfield!
The goal of Show Me a Smile Day is to bring joy and a smile to those who are in pain, or who feel neglected and forgotten.
The Plan:
- 200+ professional clowns and clown trainees attending the Show Me Clowns for Jesus National Conference will lead out on visits to every accessible resident of nursing homes, children’s homes, and shelters, and as many patients as possible in the two major hospitals in the greater Springfield metro area on the afternoon of February 19, 2011.
- Special stickers will be provided together with other treats and fun during each visit.
- Neighbors are encouraged to visit neighbors who can’t get out easily during the winter to bring a smile and a helping hand.
- Families are encouraged to visit friends and shut-in family members.
- To encourage a spirit of love and community within Springfield that will spread across Missouri and beyond.
Show Me a Smile Day is sponsored by Show Me Clowns for Jesus National Conference, a non-denominational 501c3 non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting the use of creative arts in ministry. The Conference trains people in the art of clowning and its use in churches, hospitals, schools and any where that people need a smile and a reminder that they were created for a special purpose. The Conference celebrated its 25th year of providing training in 2010, and its third year in the Springfield area. The group hosted the popular “Circus of the King” at Remington’s last February and is looking to involve even more people from Springfield in Show Me a Smile Day.
